Suzanna is our St Lucia expert and it’s her favourite Caribbean island by far. She loves the diversity of St Lucia and the freedom to do as much or as little as you want. One of Suzanna’s favourite St Lucia experiences was a Segway tour around Rodney Bay, she learnt so much about the local area as she went off-roading down jungle tracks, taking in some of St Lucia’s beautiful scenery. On her journey she was introduced to local fauna and flora and was told stories about WW2 bunkers – she loves how passionate all the guides were about their island. Suzanna can tell you just about anything about St Lucia, from zip lining through the jungle to experiencing fantastic shopping and nightlife and not forgetting the world class creole cuisine on offer at Rodney Bay - all set on the award winning Reduit Beach! Suzanna wasn’t wrong when she said St Lucia really does have something for everyone…
Mary’s favourite destination in the Caribbean is The Bahamas. She just can’t get enough of its crystal clear turquoise waters, its white sandy beaches and its secluded coves. One of Mary’s highlights was taking a boat trip to Rose Island (aptly named Paradise Island) where she spent the day relaxing on the most stunning beach, snorkeling in the crystal clear waters and taking in the views of the beautiful coral reef and the colourful tropical fish. Aside from relaxing, Mary also enjoys the range of activities available on The Bahamas and highly recommends the Nassau Rum and Food Walking Tour, which takes you through the historic areas of Nassau visiting traditional Bahamian restaurants along the way sampling classic Conch fritters, Rum punch and Rum Cakes – yum! Mary also loved her day out splashing about at Aquaventure and considers it an absolute must – especially the amazing shallow water Dolphin Experience at Dolphin Cay. The Bahamas offers something for everyone, and Mary has just about experienced it all!
Siobhan has been lucky enough to have visited the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, St Lucia, Barbados and Antigua, but out of all these places, Antigua is one of her favourites! Aside from the 365 beautiful beaches on offer, Siobhan loves the warm Antigua welcome and richly flavorsome food! The Gallery Bay hotel is her favourite place to stay because of its sophisticated yet rustic feel and picturesque sugar plantation setting, giving a deep sense of history and culture - the pristine stretch of white sandy beach is also a plus! As a good alternative to a beach day, Siobhan recommends exploring the vibrant capitol, St Johns, with its candy coloured buildings, museums and shops and watching the sunset whilst enjoying some traditional food, drinks and music at Shirley’s heights on a Sunday evening is an absolute must. For something a little different, Siobhan recommends the restored Georgian shipyard of Nelsons Dockyard as an interesting excursion wrapped in history - here you can explore the ruins of its forts and enjoy the surrounding nature trails.
