Tobago Package Holidays

Enjoy being cast away in Tobago – the tropical paradise that’s said to have inspired Daniel Defoe’s ‘Robinson Crusoe’. With its idyllic white-sand beaches, sparkling topaz waters and hills carpeted in lush rainforest, it’s easy to picture the shipwrecked sailor collecting coconuts on any of the island’s stunning sun-splashed shores. Plus, these days you don’t even have to beach your boat to enjoy Tobago package holidays – you can simply hop on a plane.

Lying safely south of the hurricane belt, Tobago is the perfect place for beach lovers. Beautiful stretches like Pigeon Point, with its iconic thatched jetty, offer windsurfing, snorkelling, swaying palms and the odd restaurant to laze at. Head further north and you’ll find sleepy villages like Castara, where the local fishermen haul their catch straight onto the sands, and the impossibly picturesque crescent of deserted Englishman’s Bay.

Natural beauty is on offer by the bucket-load on Tobago package holidays, and its interior is a tangle of verdant tropical rainforest, teeming with wildlife. Walk the trails of the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, the oldest preserved forest in the Western hemisphere, and you might expect to spot howler monkeys, racoons, ocelots and any number of brightly coloured birds. The underwater action is equally impressive, with top-class diving and snorkelling, plus there’s also deep-sea fishing and turtle spotting - even for giant leatherbacks.

Life is lived at a deliciously relaxed pace on Tobago and it’s an ideal destination simply to unwind. Lie back on powder-soft sands, meander through lush rainforest, or simply watch the sun sink into the flaming Caribbean Sea with a rum cocktail in hand and a plate of crab ‘n’ dumplings on the go. And whatever you do, do it like the locals do – slowly.

Buccoo Goat Racing

Buccoo Goat Racing

Easter is a wonderful time to visit Tobago, and especially for the longstanding tradition of the Goat Racing Festival. The idea of racing goats is taken very seriously by the locals with the animals and their ‘jockeys’ following a rigorous training schedule to get them in shape for the race. It’s an unmissable spectacle as well as for the colourful festivities that accompany it.

Castara

Castara

Peacefully set on Tobago’s North coast, this impossibly pretty fishing village is known for its two beautiful beaches and relaxed vibe. Scarborough

Scarborough

The island’s appealing capital city of Scarborough is definitely worth a visit for its scenic location with houses spilling down the hillside and the magnificent backdrop of the Atlantic. At the market, you’ll find stalls groaning with mounds of tropical fruits as well gleaming fish fresh from the sea. The town’s botanical gardens offer a peaceful interlude admiring the crimson and yellow plants and trees.

Little Tobago & Goat Island

Little Tobago and Goat Island

Situated at the eastern end of Tobago, these two islands just off the coast in Tyrell Bay offer an unspoilt tropical paradise perfect for a day trip out. On Goat Island you’ll find a white house once owned by Ian Fleming, the James Bond author, and on Little Tobago viewpoints and a bird sanctuary with raucous colonies of frigate birds, boobies and other tropic birds.
