Holidays to Cancun

As lively as a Mexican jumping bean, Cancun is a place where ‘fun in the sun’ really rings true. This non-stop party resort, with its massive choice of accommodation, offers not only superb beaches with mile upon mile of gossamer-soft sand, but also top-class dining, designer shopping and pumping nightlife. You can even throw in a dose of culture on holidays to Cancun by visiting the Maya ruins at Chichen Itza and Tulum, or get close to nature at some of the local reserves.

Cancun’s famous ‘Zona Hotelera’ stretches for 14 miles along a superb coastal strip with the sparkling Caribbean on one side and a limpid lagoon on the other. By day, the beaches buzz with activity, and you can skim the waves on a jet ski, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, take a ride on a banana boat or simply stretch out on the sand. Once the heat of the day begins to fade, it’s time for sunset cocktails and delicious dining among the strip’s many bars and restaurants…by which time you’ll be all set to party the rest of the night away in a club.

It doesn’t have to be all about the beach and the nightlife on holidays to Cancun though. There’s plenty to keep families happy with any number of boat trips and submarine experiences on offer, as well as swimming with dolphins at the Isla Aquarium. And if you venture a little further afield, there’s a whole lot more to discover: amazing snorkelling at Isla Mujeres; major attractions like the Xcaret ecological park; and swimming in freshwater cenotes, where the ancient Mayans once worshipped their gods.

Other things to tempt you include plenty of retail therapy, as well as great golf and some first-rate spas. It’s no wonder they call Cancun the Mexican Miami.
