Holidays to St Lucia

Impossibly beautiful and hopelessly romantic, St Lucia plays host to some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Caribbean. This verdant isle glitters like an emerald in the midst of the sparkling ocean, and serves up not only superb beaches fringed by coral reefs, but an interior of lush rainforest, cascading water, and sweet-smelling banana, cocoa and mango plantations. Crowned by the twin peaks of its famous jungle-clad pitons that rise almost sheer out of the sea, it’s an island you certainly won’t forget in a hurry.

Holidays to St Lucia deliver an almost perfect mix of first-rate beach action, and a healthy dose of sightseeing and adventure. Rodney Bay, home to the golden sands of Reduit Beach, is perfect for families and has superb watersports, as well as a string of buzzy shops and restaurants. For views so picturesque they’re almost heart-breaking, head to sugar-sanded Pigeon Point, or to forest-enclosed Marigot Bay, where sleek yachts bob about on the water. Plus there’s fantastic snorkelling on the reef at Anse Chastanet, and adrenalin-inducing windsurfing and kitesurfing at Anse des Sables.

St Lucia’s towns deserve a look-in, and at Castries there’s a lively daily market where the stallholders hawk everything from luscious local fruits to handicrafts, while Soufriere prides itself on its colonial buildings, brightly painted wooden storefronts and bustling waterfront. But take a step beyond the island’s towns and villages, and you’ll find there’s even more to discover. Hiking the trails in the rainforest, riding an aerial tramway through the tree canopy, discovering the local ‘drive through’ volcano and making the climb to the top of Gros Piton are just some of the options on offer.

The island’s official slogan reads ‘St Lucia – simply beautiful’. Given the evidence, there’s no reason not to agree.

You’re guaranteed to look ten years younger!

Pigeon Island
